An experiential show with the “il Teatro del Piccione” company for a cultural, educational, and emotional encounter that uses the liturgy of theatrical language and the ritual of pesto with a mortar to discover and savor the excellence of Liguria with every sense.
A profound tale brought to the forefront with lightness and irony, delving into the origins of the legendary Genoese pesto, the quintessential symbol of Liguria, created from the expert blend of local products—Genoese Basil DOP and Riviera Ligure Olive Oil DOP—and the harmony of local wines.

Its cuisine owes everything to its heroic farmers, who, bent over and balanced, pick the Genoese Basil DOP plants one by one; or tirelessly extract gold from steep olive groves in the eternal ritual of Riviera Ligure DOP oil; or even expert and tenacious farmers who tend vineyards suspended in the sky to produce wines that savour ecstasy between sea and sky.
The evocations of the story suggest images and emotions that become space: the space of the spectator with which he enters the narration and becomes himself, the
place of the show by putting his senses and manual skills into play.
Each spectator will be guided on a cultural journey through its ingredients and, equipped with a mortar, will be able to follow the lesson-show as an active and emotional protagonist of the myth of mortar-made pesto “here and now” in a unique personal act, which will culminate in tasting it directly with trenette “dipped” in the mortar.
The experience will be enriched by a lesson on the sublime art of savoring and discovering Riviera Ligure DOP olive oil and a cultural tasting of Ligurian wines.
An emotional cultural and gastronomic experience where the products are at the center of the narrative and authentic witnesses to the community’s culture and heritage.
Actor Paolo Piano, a contemporary historian, and Danila Barone take to the stage in a production commissioned and coordinated by the Consortium for the Protection of Genoese Basil DOP, together with the Consortium for the Protection of Riviera Ligure DOP Oil and the Regional Wine Shop of Liguria, and created in collaboration with the Metropolitan City of Genoa.
